Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today, October 30, 2026: Nifty Rebounds, but Will Global Tech Weakness Slow the Rally?

Nifty heads into Friday after a strong recovery. It gained nearly 238 points on Thursday, Bank Nifty rose more than 640 points, and buying reached beyond a handful of heavyweight shares.

The overnight picture is less comfortable: the US Nasdaq fell sharply, while European markets finished higher.

For Indian traders, 23,000 on Nifty is the obvious round-number level to watch. The more useful question is whether buyers can hold Thursday’s gains after trading begins.

Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today: Friday’s Main Cues

  • Thursday’s Indian rebound was broad: Nifty closed at 22,936.75 and Sensex at 74,151.04.
  • GIFT Nifty was near flat in the latest timestamped overnight snapshot.
  • The Nasdaq lost 1.38% on Thursday, with concern about big technology companies’ AI spending weighing on US shares.
  • European indices gained, offering a different signal from Wall Street.
  • Crude remains expensive despite easing tensions at points during the week.

These cues leave room for a mixed opening. Thursday’s domestic strength is real, but it still needs to survive a fresh session.

Previous Day Post-Market Summary: October 29, 2026

Indian shares rebounded strongly on Thursday. Nifty regained 22,900, Sensex rose more than 900 points, and Bank Nifty gained over 640 points. Midcap and smallcap shares also finished higher.

Nifty Smallcap 10018,811.35+0.95%
India VIX15.12−1.13 (−6.95%)

What Drove the Rally?

  • Fed decision and earnings: The US Federal Reserve held rates steady, while company results gave investors fresh reasons to buy after several weak sessions.
  • Banks joined the recovery: Bank Nifty rose 1.18%. Realty gained 2.75% and PSU banks 2.20%, while the Auto index slipped 0.24%.
  • Adani Ports stood out: The share rose about 6.3% after stronger quarterly profit and an improved operating-profit forecast.
  • Volatility eased: India VIX fell to 15.12, although that does not guarantee a calm next session.

FII and DII Activity

Investor groupOctober 29 cash-market flowPosition
FII−₹943.60 croreNet sellers
DII+₹1,924.41 croreNet buyers
Combined+₹980.81 croreNet buying

These are cash-market flows, not combined cash and derivatives positions. Domestic buying exceeded foreign selling on a day when the benchmarks rose.

Level to carry into October 30: Nifty closed at 22,936.75, near Thursday’s high of 22,961.95. That high and the round 23,000 mark are the first levels to assess if the recovery continues. Thursday’s low was 22,656.75.

Global Cues: US Shares Fall, Europe Gains

The latest completed US and European cash-market sessions were on Thursday, October 29.

Major indexClosing levelDaily change
Dow Jones52,342.56−0.25%
S&P 5007,720.39−0.30%
Nasdaq Composite26,184.72−1.38%

UK FTSE 10010,722.07+0.26%
France CAC 407,970.00+1.05%

What Is Behind the Split?

US technology shares faced selling after investors questioned the returns from large AI-related spending. Alphabet’s results were a particular drag on sentiment. European shares rose after the European Central Bank held its key rate at 2.5%.

For India, this puts IT stocks in focus. A weak Nasdaq does not dictate how Indian IT shares will trade, but it gives traders a reason to check their opening behaviour. Banks and domestic-facing companies may respond to different factors.

Oil and Geopolitical News

Reports of renewed diplomatic efforts involving the US and Iran helped oil ease. The wider Middle East conflict has not been resolved, and supply concerns remain. For India, a sharp renewed rise in crude could affect the rupee, inflation expectations and fuel-sensitive businesses.

Important contract difference: News reports quoting Brent around $115.44 refer to the front-month contract at an earlier morning timestamp. The table uses January Brent; these are different contracts and should not be compared as an intraday price fall.

Nifty, Bank Nifty and Sensex: Support and Resistance

These are planning references, calculated from Thursday’s published high, low and close. They are rounded pivot levels, not guaranteed turning points.

Nifty 50 Levels

  • Thursday close: 22,936.75.
  • Immediate resistance: Thursday’s high near 22,962, then the 23,000 round number.
  • Calculated first resistance: Around 23,047; next near 23,157.
  • Calculated first support: Around 22,742.
  • Further support: Thursday’s low near 22,657, followed by a calculated level near 22,547.

A brief move above 23,000 may attract attention, but traders should look for a sustained move with participation from heavyweight shares.

Bank Nifty Levels

  • Thursday close: 54,909.65.
  • Immediate resistance: Thursday’s high near 54,980, followed by 55,000.
  • Calculated resistance references: Around 55,244 and 55,578.
  • Calculated support references: Around 54,312 and 53,713.

Banks helped Thursday’s rally. If they continue to hold up, they can offer the benchmark some support even if IT opens weak.

Sensex Levels

  • Thursday close: 74,151.04.
  • Immediate resistance: Thursday’s high near 74,166.
  • Calculated resistance: Around 74,484, then 74,817.
  • Calculated support: Around 73,500, then 72,849.

Treat these as zones to assess price behaviour. A number on its own is not a reason to enter a trade.

Open Interest, Put-Call Ratio and India VIX

For the November 3 Nifty expiry, the October 29, 4:45 p.m. options snapshot showed:

  • Put-call ratio by open interest: 1.44.
  • Total call open interest displayed: 13.24 crore.
  • Total put open interest displayed: 19.08 crore.
  • Max pain: 22,900.
  • Largest displayed call OI above spot: 23,500.
  • Largest displayed put OI below spot: 22,000.

A PCR of 1.44 means outstanding put positions exceeded call positions in that snapshot. It does not, by itself, mean Nifty must rise. Positions can be hedges, and the option chain changes during the day.

India VIX stood at 15.12 at Thursday’s close. For beginners, VIX is an estimate of expected market volatility. It does not forecast whether the next move will be up or down.

Today’s trade setup: Nifty open interest and PCR

FII and DII Data: Domestic Buying Offsets Foreign Selling

On October 29, FIIs were net sellers of ₹943.60 crore in the cash market, while DIIs were net buyers of ₹1,924.41 crore. The combined cash-market net figure was approximately ₹980.81 crore of buying. These are cash-segment numbers and should not be mixed with futures or options positions.

The market rose despite foreign net selling. This is a useful reminder that one flow figure cannot explain every stock move. Domestic demand and company-specific earnings can matter just as much on a given day.

Currency Update: Rupee and Dollar

The rupee’s provisional October 29 close was ₹95.25 per US dollar, a gain of three paise from the previous session. That is the latest verified domestic closing figure here; it is not Friday’s opening rate. Softer oil and stronger Indian shares helped limit pressure on the currency during Thursday’s trade.

A weaker rupee generally raises the local cost of imported oil. Exporters may see a benefit, but their actual earnings also depend on overseas demand, expenses and currency hedges.

Indian ADR and GDR Update

The verified October 29 regular US-session ADR closes include:

  • Infosys ADR: $12.20, up 0.91%. The later displayed after-hours reading was $12.10 at 7:06 p.m. EDT.
  • HDFC Bank ADR: $21.80, up 1.16%.

ADR prices can offer a clue about overseas sentiment toward Indian companies. They cannot be converted into a simple one-for-one opening target for the Indian shares.

Two Growth Stocks in Focus After Q2 FY27 Results

Laurus Labs: Revenue Growth and Better Margins

Laurus Labs reported Q2 revenue of ₹2,206 crore, up 33% year on year. Its company release reported EBITDA of ₹762 crore, up 78%, with the EBITDA margin improving to 34.5% from 26.0%. The release reported net profit of ₹441 crore, against ₹195 crore a year earlier.

Some financial-data summaries use a different reported profit figure. For consistency, the figures above follow the company’s press-release summary; readers comparing platforms should check which profit definition each one uses.

Technical view: Laurus closed at ₹2,244, up 2.85%, matching Thursday’s session high. The session low was ₹2,166, and the previous close was ₹2,181.90. A move that holds above ₹2,244 would indicate continued buying; slipping back below the previous close would weaken that near-term picture.

Investment view: The earnings improvement deserves attention, especially the margin gain. Longer-term investors still need to assess whether that profitability can continue and whether the share price already reflects much of the good news.

Apar Industries: Strong Profit Rise, Wide Trading Range

Apar Industries reported consolidated Q2 revenue from operations of ₹6,931.19 crore, up 21.3% year on year. Consolidated profit after tax rose 77.7% to ₹447.32 crore. Profit grew considerably faster than sales.

Technical view: The NSE share traded between ₹14,925 and ₹16,160 on Thursday. FT’s historical price record shows a close of ₹15,846. That is a wide daily range, so the ₹16,160 high and ₹14,925 low are more useful near-term reference points than a tight target invented before Friday’s open.

Investment view: Apar’s earnings growth makes it worth studying, but a strong result does not remove valuation or execution risk. Short-term traders should account for the stock’s large daily swings. Long-term investors should follow order execution, margins and cash flow alongside revenue growth.

These stocks are earnings watchlist ideas, not personal buy recommendations.

SEBI Rule Update: What Changes Later This Year?

SEBI issued a circular on the Closing Auction Session, market timings and derivatives settlement methodology. The announced changes are scheduled to start on December 7, 2026—they do not apply to today’s trade.

Under the announced arrangement, regular cash trading in all stocks will run until 3:30 p.m. The closing auction will run from 3:30 p.m. to 3:40 p.m. Final settlement for expiring derivatives will use the prescribed volume-weighted average price from the last 30 minutes of regular trading, rather than the closing auction price.

For everyday investors, there is no immediate change to today’s order routine. Active traders should review broker notices before December 7, particularly if they trade near the close or hold positions into expiry.

Short-Term and Long-Term Approach

For Short-Term Traders

Thursday’s rally makes 23,000 on Nifty a natural level to test. Let the opening range form first. If the market opens higher but immediately loses the previous day’s high, reassess instead of assuming that the rebound will continue.

Keep a defined exit level, particularly in stocks reacting to fresh results. Overseas tech weakness and oil headlines can change the mood quickly.

For Long-Term Investors

One strong market day is not a reason to overhaul a portfolio. Use the results season to compare a company’s sales, margins, debt and cash flow with your original investment case.

If you are adding exposure, staggered purchases and sensible position sizes may be easier to manage than putting the full amount into a stock after a sharp results-day rise.

Today’s Market Forecast: Five Points to Watch

  • Opening cue: The last verified overnight GIFT Nifty snapshot was almost flat; refresh it once Friday’s morning session starts.
  • Nifty test: Watch whether the index can cross Thursday’s high near 22,962 and hold above 23,000.
  • Banking support: Bank Nifty’s ability to retain Thursday’s gains will matter for the broader index.
  • Global pressure: A weak Nasdaq puts IT shares under scrutiny, even though Europe finished higher.
  • Oil and earnings: Crude headlines and stock-specific Q2 reactions could produce a mixed session despite Thursday’s broad rebound.
