Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today, November 3, 2026: Oil Drops, Nifty Eyes 23,500 on Expiry Day
India enters Tuesday after a strong rally, but the global picture is mixed. Lower crude prices offer relief to an oil-importing economy. Continued selling in US technology shares is a concern for IT stocks.
This Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today covers Monday’s Indian close, overnight global cues, the latest available GIFT Nifty reference, Q2 earnings and the levels that could shape Tuesday’s session.
Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today: The Opening Picture
The starting bias is cautiously positive after Monday’s advance. Still, a strong opening and a strong closing are two different things, especially on expiry day.
Three things deserve attention:
- Whether Nifty holds above Monday’s closing area after the opening trades.
- Whether Bank Nifty builds on its recovery above 55,000.
- Whether gains spread beyond the heavyweights that drove Monday’s rally.
A lower oil bill can help sentiment. For the rally to last, however, more sectors need to participate.
Indian Stock Market Post-Market Summary — November 2, 2026
Sensex jumped 1,233 points and Nifty closed above 23,400, supported by Reliance Industries, energy and metal stocks. Banks and broader markets also advanced, though their gains were smaller.
Closing Market Snapshot
| Index | Closing level | Day’s change |
|---|---|---|
| Nifty 50 | 23,440.80 | +387.70 (+1.68%) |
| Sensex | 75,692.78 | +1,233.25 (+1.66%) |
| Bank Nifty | 55,002.20 | +315.25 (+0.58%) |
| Nifty Midcap 100 | 57,983.40 | +682.15 (+1.19%) |
| Nifty Smallcap 100 | 18,595.30 | +131.70 (+0.71%) |
| India VIX | Approximately 15.50 | Higher on the day |
Important Highlights
- Reliance led the rally: Strong buying in the heavyweight helped lift both Nifty and Sensex.
- Energy and metals gained: These sectors provided much of the session’s strength.
- Lower crude supported sentiment: Easing oil prices offered relief on India’s import-cost outlook.
- IT lagged: Technology shares ended lower despite the broader rally.
- Nifty finished at its reported session high: Its trading range was 23,207.05–23,440.80, indicating that buying continued into the close.
Sector Performance
| Sector | Day’s move | Performance |
|---|---|---|
| Nifty Energy | +3.92% | Strongest among these sectors |
| Nifty Metal | +3.21% | Strong gains |
| Nifty Auto | +1.33% | Positive |
| Nifty Realty | +1.03% | Positive |
| Nifty FMCG | +0.84% | Positive |
| Nifty Bank | +0.58% | Trailed Nifty |
| Nifty Pharma | −0.07% | Almost flat |
| Nifty IT | −0.50% | Underperformed |
| Nifty Media | −0.76% | Weak |
Energy and metals comfortably outperformed banks, while IT and media declined.
FII and DII Cash-Market Activity
| Investor group | Net activity | Position |
|---|---|---|
| FIIs / FPIs | +₹3,114.68 crore | Net buyers |
| DIIs | −₹392.20 crore | Net sellers |
| Combined | +₹2,722.48 crore | Net inflow |
What the Closing Session Tells Us
Monday’s close improved the short-term market tone. Nifty ended near 23,450, while Bank Nifty reclaimed 55,000.
The next test is broader participation. A rally supported by banks, midcaps and more sectors would carry greater strength than one driven mainly by a few heavyweights. The rise in India VIX also suggests traders should allow for sharp swings despite the positive close.
Global Cues: US and European Markets
| Index | November 2 close | Change |
|---|---|---|
| Dow Jones | 51,983.98 | +0.41% |
| S&P 500 | 7,541.40 | −0.51% |
| Nasdaq Composite | 25,164.32 | −1.07% |
| FTSE 100 | 10,761.33 | +0.29% |
| Germany DAX | 25,986.71 | +0.65% |
| France CAC 40 | 8,045.07 | +0.95% |
What Matters for India?
Wall Street’s early recovery faded, with technology shares weighing on the market. Oracle fell almost 9% amid concerns around its funding plans. The US midterm elections are another source of uncertainty today.
Europe benefited from cheaper oil. The practical takeaway for Indian investors is that global cues are split: energy-cost relief is positive, while technology-sector weakness calls for caution.

Asian Markets and GIFT Nifty Today — November 3, 2026
Checked around 7:55 AM IST. Asian markets are mixed, with South Korea and Taiwan under pressure. GIFT Nifty has eased from its morning high.
GIFT Nifty: Latest Available Quote
| Indicator | Level | Change / timestamp |
| GIFT Nifty — November contract | 23,505.50 | −58.50 (−0.25%) |
| Morning opening level | 23,554.00 | November 3 session |
| Session range | 23,505.50–23,588.00 | Source quote: 07:31:38 |
The percentage change uses the provider’s previous-close reference of 23,564. This is the latest timestamped quote retrieved, rather than an exact 7:55 AM tick.
India reading: GIFT Nifty remains above 23,500 but has surrendered part of its overnight strength. Its daily change should not be confused with the expected opening gap for cash Nifty.
Asian Markets: Latest Retrieved Snapshot
| Market | Level | Change / status |
| South Korea — KOSPI | 5,715.44 | −2.45% |
| Taiwan Weighted | 44,496.25 | −0.94% |
| Shanghai Composite | 3,601.10 | −1.02% |
| Hong Kong — Hang Seng* | 23,465.00 | +0.31% |
| Australia — ASX 200 | 8,859.20 | +0.03% |
| Japan — Nikkei 225 | 63,081.86 | Monday’s close; cash market holiday today |
Hang Seng is a provider-labelled derived quote. The feed’s clock timezone is unspecified, so these are the latest retrieved readings, not synchronised exchange ticks.
Main reason for caution: Continued weakness in US chipmakers is weighing on Asian sentiment, despite relief from lower oil prices. Japan has Culture Day holiday trading in derivatives, separate from its cash-equity market.
International Commodities
| Commodity / contract | Latest retrieved price | Daily change |
| Brent crude — January 2027 | $104.46/barrel | +0.20% |
| WTI crude — December 2026 | $96.28/barrel | −0.19% |
| Gold — December 2026 | $3,954.27/troy ounce | −0.39% |
| Silver — December 2026 | $50.318/troy ounce | −1.12% |
These are indicative, derived futures quotes. The source displays quote clocks around 21:07 without identifying the timezone; they should not be labelled exact 7:55 AM IST exchange prices.
Oil cue: Crude remains well below its levels before Monday’s sharp decline, although Brent is slightly higher in this snapshot. Diplomatic hopes surrounding Iran remain a market driver.
MCX Gold and Silver: Previous Session’s Latest Quotes
| MCX contract | Last displayed price | Change / timestamp |
| Gold — December 4 | ₹1,40,222 per 10 grams | +1.25%; November 2, 11:54 PM IST |
| Silver — December 4 | ₹1,83,555 per kg | +2.47%; November 2, 11:54 PM IST |
These are Monday-night prices, not fresh Tuesday MCX quotes. The domestic and international percentage changes cover different trading periods.
Geopolitics Behind the Oil Move
Oil fell sharply as diplomatic signals raised hopes of US–Iran negotiations. Qatar-led mediation is in focus, but differences remain. A final agreement should not be assumed.
For India, sustained lower crude can reduce pressure on import costs and inflation.
Airlines, paints and other oil-sensitive businesses may benefit, depending on hedging, currency moves and how quickly input savings reach their accounts. Oil producers can react differently, so the sector impact will vary.
Currency Update: Rupee and Dollar
- USD/INR: Reuters reported Monday’s close at ₹94.90, against ₹94.95 in the previous session.
- Dollar Index: The retrieved overseas snapshot was around 101.65.
- US 10-year Treasury yield: Around 4.91% in the retrieved snapshot.
These are overnight or previous-session references, not a fresh Indian interbank opening quote.
Cheaper oil can help the rupee, but foreign flows and global dollar demand also matter. One favourable input does not decide the currency’s direction.
Indian ADR and GDR Update
ADRs: Monday’s US Regular Session
- Infosys ADR: $12.53, down 0.16%. A later after-hours reference was $12.65.
- HDFC Bank ADR: $22.70, up 2.34%. A later after-hours reference was $22.99.
Both regular-session closes are dated November 2 at 4 PM US Eastern time, equivalent to November 3 at 2:30 AM IST. After-hours trading is separate and may have thinner liquidity.
GDRs: Fresh Prices Not Verified
The accessible GDR feed still carried an October 30 timestamp. Fresh November 2 prices for Axis Bank, L&T, Reliance and SBI could not be verified, so older numbers are not presented as current.
ADR and GDR moves also reflect currency, trading hours and receipt ratios. They are supporting cues, not direct forecasts for the Indian shares.
Nifty 50, Bank Nifty and Sensex: Support and Resistance
The following are editorial trading zones, using Monday’s closing prices, session ranges and nearby round numbers. They are not assured turning points.
Nifty 50
- Latest cash close: 23,440.80.
- Initial support: 23,350–23,400.
- Stronger support reference: 23,200–23,250.
- Initial resistance: 23,500.
- Higher resistance zone: 23,600–23,650.
Holding 23,400 after an opening rise would help the bullish case. A return below 23,350 would suggest that some of Monday’s momentum is fading.
The 23,200–23,250 area sits around Monday’s low and the recent breakout region, making it a useful reference during a deeper pullback.
Bank Nifty
- Latest cash close: 55,002.20.
- Initial support: 54,800.
- Lower support zone: 54,550–54,600.
- Initial resistance: 55,050–55,100.
- Higher resistance: 55,300, followed by 55,500.
Banks rose less than Nifty on Monday. A sustained move above 55,100 would offer better evidence of wider financial-sector participation.
Sensex
- Latest cash close: 75,692.78.
- Initial support: 75,400–75,500.
- Lower reference support: 75,000.
- Initial resistance: 76,000.
- Higher resistance zone: 76,200–76,300.
Sensex’s round-number levels are useful reference points. Read them alongside heavyweight stocks and the day’s actual price action.
Nifty Expiry: Open Interest, PCR and India VIX
For the November 3 expiry, Quantsapp’s November 2, 4:45 PM IST snapshot showed:
- Nifty OI put-call ratio: 1.67.
- Largest call-OI strike: 24,000.
- Largest put-OI strike: 23,000.
- Max-pain reference: 23,250.
- Bank Nifty PCR: 0.96, for its November 23 expiry.
PCR compares open put positions with open call positions. A reading above one means more put OI in the selected series; it does not prove who will win the next session.
The largest OI strikes are quite far from Nifty’s close. Nearby additions, unwinding and price behaviour after opening will matter more for intraday decisions. Max pain is a model reference, not an expiry target.
India VIX was around 15.50 after Monday’s session. Its rise alongside equities is a reminder that demand for protection can increase even during a rally.
Expiry-day premiums can change quickly. A correct directional view can still lose money if timing, entry price or time decay works against the position.
Today’s Trade Setup — Nifty Open Interest, PCR and Key Strikes
FII and DII Activity: November 2
- FIIs: Net buyers of ₹3,114.68 crore.
- DIIs: Net sellers of ₹392.20 crore.
- Combined net flow: Positive ₹2,722.48 crore.
These are provisional cash-market figures reported by the data provider. They describe Monday’s activity and can be revised.
Foreign buying supports the recovery narrative. Even so, one session cannot establish a lasting change in institutional behaviour.
Two Growth Stocks to Study After Q2 Results
These are earnings watchlist ideas for research, not buy recommendations.
1. Marico: Volume Growth and Better Margins
Marico reported Q2 FY27 revenue of ₹3,897 crore, up approximately 13% year on year. EBITDA rose to ₹709 crore, about 27% higher, while India underlying volume growth was 10%. Widely reported net profit was ₹550 crore, up approximately 31%.
Fundamentals: Volume growth is encouraging because it indicates demand beyond price increases. The next test is whether margins improve without reducing spending needed to support its brands.
Technicals: Monday’s close was ₹798.55, down 0.18%, with a session range of ₹778.25–₹805.60. The ₹805–₹807 area is an immediate resistance reference; ₹778–₹780 is nearby support drawn from the session low.
Outlook: The earnings trend deserves attention, but a positive result does not make every price attractive. Input costs and the valuation paid for future growth remain important.

2. TBO Tek: Travel Platform Growth With Risks to Check
TBO Tek reported rounded Q2 FY27 revenue of ₹866 crore, up 53%, adjusted EBITDA of ₹152 crore, up 47%, and PAT of ₹76 crore, up 13%. Gross transaction value grew 31% to ₹11,695 crore.
Fundamentals: Business volumes are expanding, but profit growth lagged revenue growth. Readers should examine acquisition effects, exceptional items, cash generation and the difference between adjusted EBITDA and reported profit.
Technicals: The historical-price table records ₹1,596.80 for November 2, up 4.22%, with a range of ₹1,515–₹1,604. The ₹1,600–₹1,605 area is the immediate breakout test. Around ₹1,550 is an intermediate reference, with stronger session-based support near ₹1,515.
Outlook: Lower fuel prices may improve travel sentiment. Geopolitical disruption, travel demand and integration costs can still affect the business, so the post-results reaction deserves patience.

SEBI Rule Update and Its Market Impact
SEBI’s October circular covers changes to closing auctions, trading hours and derivatives settlement. The announced implementation date is December 7, 2026. These changes are not taking effect today.
The announced framework includes:
- Regular cash trading until 3:30 PM.
- A closing auction from 3:30 PM to 3:40 PM.
- Final settlement of expiring derivatives using the last 30 minutes’ volume-weighted average price.
- Different closing times for expiring and non-expiring index derivatives.
The practical impact is on closing orders and expiry planning. Traders should use their broker’s current contract timings today and prepare separately for the December change.
IPO Updates: Issues Open for Subscription
Zerodha’s current IPO tracker lists:
- Maxwell Engineering Solutions: ₹150–₹158; closes November 3.
- Vectras Enprocon: ₹99–₹105; closes November 3.
- HGS India: ₹114–₹120; closes November 3.
- Johnsoncab Electricals: ₹190–₹200; closes November 3.
- Vedant Poly Fabs: ₹88–₹94; closes November 4.
- Antala Industries: ₹62–₹66; the tracker now lists closing on November 5.
These are SME issues. Check the offer document, application rules and final schedule before applying.
Unannounced upcoming issues should not be assigned an assumed opening date or price band. For existing applications, use the registrar or exchange allotment page rather than relying only on a broker’s summary.
Zerodha IPO Updates — Open and Upcoming Issues
Short-Term and Long-Term Investment Approach
For Short-Term Traders
- Let the opening range form before reacting to an overnight signal.
- Use a clear invalidation level and size the position around the possible loss.
- Avoid treating every expiry-day jump as a fresh trend.
- Compare a stock’s strength with its sector and the broader market.
For Long-Term Investors
- Separate a better quarterly result from a sensible valuation.
- Review operating cash flow, debt and the source of earnings growth.
- Spread planned investments over time where appropriate.
- Keep near-term spending money outside volatile equity positions.
Monday improved the market’s short-term tone. A longer recovery still needs sustained earnings delivery and broader participation.
Today’s Market Forecast: Five Points
- Opening bias: The overnight GIFT reference and lower crude favour a positive start, subject to fresh morning prices.
- Nifty test: Holding 23,400 would support a move towards 23,500–23,600; losing 23,350 would weaken that view.
- Banking confirmation: Bank Nifty needs follow-through above 55,100 to strengthen the rally.
- Sector action: Oil-sensitive businesses may attract interest, while IT could face uneven global cues.
- Expiry risk: Expect quick reversals around active strikes; US election and geopolitical headlines can change sentiment.
