Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today, November 2, 2026: Can Nifty Hold 23,000 After Wall Street’s Tech Sell-Off?

Kartalks.com | Monday, November 2, 2026 | Early-morning edition

Indian markets begin November with a test of Friday’s recovery. Nifty finished above 23,000, but banks and smaller companies failed to join the rise. Overseas, US technology shares ended the week sharply lower.

The weekend brought another development: OPEC+ kept December oil-production targets unchanged. That leaves India’s market assessing expensive crude, quarterly earnings and a busy week of global events.

Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today: The Main Setup

  • Nifty’s reference level: Friday’s close of 23,053.10.
  • Banking weakness: Bank Nifty declined despite gains in Nifty and Sensex.
  • Foreign flows: FIIs bought ₹3,598.54 crore in Friday’s cash market.
  • Global concern: The Nasdaq fell 2.86% in its latest completed session.
  • Domestic triggers: Fresh results, October business updates and the reaction to weekend company announcements.

A higher opening, if it comes, will need follow-through. Friday’s weak broader-market participation means investors should judge the movement beneath the headline indices too.

Previous Session: October 30 Post-Market Summary

IndexFriday’s closing levelSession change
Nifty 5023,053.10+116.35; +0.51%
Sensex74,459.53+308.49; +0.42%
Bank Nifty54,686.95−222.70; −0.41%
Nifty Midcap 10057,301.25−0.93%
Nifty 50021,895.90−0.21%
India VIXApproximately 15.30Higher on the session

The figures refer to Friday’s completed trading session. Small differences in the final VIX reading appear across data providers.

What Does Friday’s Closing Pattern Tell Us?

The benchmarks gained, but Bank Nifty, midcaps and the wider Nifty 500 declined. That is a selective recovery rather than uniform buying.

For everyday investors, this explains why a portfolio can fall even when Nifty is green. Index-heavy stocks can lift the benchmark while many other companies lose ground.

The first useful check today is whether banks stabilise and broader participation improves. A rise supported by more sectors would make the recovery easier to trust.

Global Cues: US and European Markets

These are Friday, October 30 closing readings, the latest completed US and European cash-market sessions.

Why the US Technology Fall Matters

Disappointing results and heavy AI-related spending increased doubts about returns from the technology investment cycle. Intel fell nearly 29% on Friday, adding to pressure following results from Alphabet and Amazon.

Indian IT companies have different business models from US chipmakers and cloud companies. Even so, a technology sell-off can affect sentiment, valuations and institutional risk-taking.

The practical question is how Indian IT shares respond after the opening. Their actual price movement matters more than assuming they must follow the Nasdaq.

Asian Markets and GIFT Nifty Today — November 2, 2026

Reading for India: GIFT Nifty remains above 23,250, but has eased from its morning high. Its daily change should not be treated as the expected opening gap for Nifty.

Main market cues:

  • South Korea: KOSPI has recovered strongly, showing a different trend from Japan.
  • China and Hong Kong: Both are positive in the retrieved snapshot.
  • Regional focus: Manufacturing PMI releases and Middle East developments are influencing sentiment.

Commodities: Crude Oil, Gold and Silver

International prices below are indicative, derived futures quotes retrieved during this check. The provider’s displayed clock timezone is unspecified.

Crude prices are lower as markets assess Iran–Qatar talks aimed at ending the US–Iran conflict. For India, cheaper oil can ease pressure on import costs, although prices remain elevated.

MCX Gold and Silver: Latest Available Indian Quotes

Fresh Monday MCX prices were unavailable at this morning check. These are Friday’s last displayed traded prices, not today’s live rates.

Weekend News: OPEC+ Holds Output Targets Steady

Seven key OPEC+ members kept December production targets unchanged at their Sunday meeting. The group continues to face export disruption linked to the Middle East conflict. Its wider membership is scheduled to meet on November 29 to address the 2027 framework.

For India, the decision does not remove the oil risk. Production targets and actual deliveries are different things. Shipping interruptions can keep prices elevated even when supply targets remain unchanged.

Global Events Ahead

US midterm elections on Tuesday, corporate earnings and the monthly US jobs report are major events this week. These can influence the dollar, bond yields and investors’ willingness to hold riskier assets.

Domestically, Monday’s earnings list includes ITC, Marico, UPL, Container Corporation and several other companies. Results should be checked against expectations as well as last year’s numbers.

Nifty, Bank Nifty and Sensex: Support and Resistance

The following levels are reference zones for planning, based on previous-session prices and nearby round numbers. They are not guaranteed turning points.

Nifty 50

  • Previous close: 23,053.10.
  • Immediate reference: 23,000.
  • Resistance: Friday’s high near 23,118.
  • Further upside reference: 23,200, a round-number area.
  • Support: Friday’s low near 22,905.
  • Lower round-number reference: 22,800.

A sustained move above Friday’s high would strengthen the recovery attempt. A break below the previous low would weaken it. Friday’s published range was 22,905.10–23,118.10.

Bank Nifty

  • Previous close: 54,686.95.
  • Support reference: Around 54,581, Friday’s low.
  • Resistance zone: 55,000–55,069, covering the round number and previous high.

Bank Nifty’s recovery through that upper zone would improve participation. Continued banking weakness could restrict gains in the broader benchmark.

Sensex

  • Previous close: 74,459.53.
  • Resistance: Friday’s high near 74,743.
  • Support reference: Friday’s low near 74,082.
  • Additional round-number reference: 74,000.

These levels help define a setup. An entry still needs a clear exit plan and suitable position size.

Open Interest, Put-Call Ratio and India VIX

For the November 3 Nifty expiry, the latest verified snapshot was from October 30, 4:45 p.m. IST:

  • Put-call ratio by OI: 1.62.
  • Displayed call open interest: 13.97 crore.
  • Displayed put open interest: 22.69 crore.
  • Max pain: 23,000.
  • Largest displayed call OI above spot: 23,500.

The displayed OI quantities should not be described as crore exchange lots. Providers may show underlying units rather than contracts.

PCR measures outstanding puts relative to calls. It does not identify every trader’s strategy or guarantee direction. Max pain is also a calculation, not an assured expiry destination.

India VIX was around 15.30 in Friday’s broker snapshot. It measures expected volatility, not whether the next move will be up or down.

Today’s Trade Setup: Nifty Open Interest, PCR and Max Pain

FII and DII Data: Friday’s Cash-Market Flows

  • FII net buying: ₹3,598.54 crore.
  • DII net selling: ₹817.51 crore.
  • Combined net buying: ₹2,781.03 crore.

These figures refer to October 30 cash equities, not today’s activity or combined derivatives exposure.

Foreign buying offers support, but one session does not establish a lasting change in flows. Today’s price behaviour and the next published cash-flow figures will provide further evidence.

Commodities: Brent, WTI, Gold, Silver and MCX

CommodityLatest retrieved priceContract or quote status
Brent crude$111.67/barrelJanuary 2027 futures; indicative provider snapshot
WTI crude$102.38/barrelDecember 2026 futures; indicative provider snapshot
International gold$3,905.65/ozDecember 2026 futures; indicative provider snapshot
International silver$49.650/ozDecember 2026 futures; indicative provider snapshot
MCX Gold₹1,38,419/10 gDecember 4 expiry; October 30, 11:29 p.m. IST
MCX Silver₹1,78,900/kgDecember 4 expiry; October 30, 11:29 p.m. IST

The international page does not identify its displayed clock in IST. Those readings are latest retrieved indications, not certified live quotes at this report’s preparation time. MCX figures are Friday-night prices, awaiting Monday’s domestic session.

Contract months matter, especially for Brent. A January contract should not be compared directly with an expiring December contract to claim an overnight crash or rally.

For Indian businesses, the combination of crude and the rupee is more useful than either in isolation.

Currency Update: Latest Domestic Reference

The rupee’s latest verified domestic close was ₹94.95 per US dollar on October 30. Reuters reported that it gained approximately 1% during October. There is no fresh Monday interbank opening rate in this early edition.

A stronger rupee can reduce imported costs, but companies’ earnings also depend on hedges, overseas expenses and demand. Avoid treating every currency move as an automatic buy or sell signal.

Indian ADR and GDR Update

The latest completed October 30 US regular-session ADR closes included:

  • Infosys ADR: $12.55, up 2.87%.
  • HDFC Bank ADR: $22.18, up 1.74%.

Later after-hours readings were lower: Infosys showed $12.46, while HDFC Bank showed $21.74. Those were separate extended-session quotes, not revisions to the regular close.

For GDRs, a third-party list reports October 30 day-end references of $63.80 for Axis Bank, $40.10 for Larsen & Toubro and $102.40 for SBI. Exchange trade timestamps were not independently confirmed, so these should be treated as reported references rather than live prices.

Two Different Growth Stocks After Q2 FY27 Results

GE Vernova T&D India: Growth in Revenue, Profit and Orders

GE Vernova T&D India’s Q2 update reported:

  • Revenue of approximately ₹2,027 crore, up 31.8%.
  • Net profit of approximately ₹431 crore, up 44.1%.
  • EBITDA of approximately ₹550 crore.
  • EBITDA margin of 27.1%.

Its company announcement also reported 52% growth in quarterly order bookings. The exchange filing identifies these financial results as standalone.

Technical picture: The stock closed Friday at ₹4,020, down 1.74%. The session range was ₹3,945.60–₹4,056.20. Those boundaries provide immediate support and resistance references; the previous close near ₹4,091 is another level to assess on a recovery.

Outlook: Grid investment supports the business opportunity, but order execution, margins and cash collection determine how much reaches shareholders. Strong earnings do not eliminate valuation risk.

Aditya Birla Capital: Lending Expansion in Focus

Aditya Birla Capital’s Q2 press release highlighted:

  • Consolidated revenue of ₹16,545 crore, up 31%.
  • Consolidated PAT of ₹1,288 crore, up 38%.
  • Lending AUM of ₹2,33,930 crore, up 32% year on year.

These figures follow the company’s press-release presentation. They should not be mixed with differently defined line items from the statutory accounts.

Technical picture: The share closed at ₹369.45, up 3.10%, after trading between ₹353.50 and ₹379.50. Friday’s high is the immediate resistance reference. The previous close near ₹358.35 and the session low form lower reference levels.

Outlook: Growth needs to be assessed alongside asset quality, funding costs and credit losses. For longer-term investors, the quality of expansion matters as much as the speed.

Both companies belong on a research watchlist; neither is a personalised recommendation.

SEBI Rule Update: Changes Scheduled for December

The announced changes to the Closing Auction Session and derivatives settlement methodology are scheduled for December 7, 2026, not today.

Regular cash trading in all stocks will continue until 3:30 p.m., with the closing auction running until 3:40 p.m. The prescribed final settlement for expiring derivatives will use the last 30 minutes’ VWAP methodology.

Traders who operate near the close or hold contracts into expiry should review their broker’s implementation notice before that date.

IPO Updates for November 2

According to Zerodha’s calendar:

  • Bombay Coated & Special Steels: ₹78–₹82; scheduled to close today.
  • Antala Industries, SME: ₹63–₹67; scheduled to close today.
  • Maxwell Engineering Solutions, SME: ₹150–₹158; scheduled to close November 3.
  • Vectras Enprocon, SME: ₹99–₹105; scheduled to close November 3.
  • Vedant Poly Fabs, SME: ₹88–₹94; scheduled to open today and close November 4.

Confirm application and UPI-mandate deadlines before applying. Subscription numbers and unofficial grey-market premiums do not replace an assessment of business risks and valuation.

Short-Term and Long-Term Investment Approach

Short-term traders should let the opening range develop. Friday’s split between strong benchmarks and weaker broader shares argues for selectivity rather than buying every decline.

Long-term investors can use the results season to update their investment case. Compare profit growth with cash flow, debt and margins. Staggering purchases may reduce dependence on a single entry price, but it cannot remove business or market risk.

Today’s Market Forecast: Five Points

  • Opening direction remains unconfirmed: The accessible GIFT quote is from the previous overnight session; refresh it before using an opening headline.
  • Nifty’s recovery test: Holding 23,000 and clearing Friday’s high near 23,118 would improve the near-term setup.
  • Banks need to participate: Continued Bank Nifty weakness could restrict the recovery.
  • Global risk is still present: Technology sentiment, oil and this week’s US events may produce sharp changes in mood.
  • Expect stock-specific movement: Fresh Q2 results and company updates could matter more than the benchmark’s opening colour.
