Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today, November 4, 2026: Nifty Holds 23,800, GIFT Nifty Slips as Global Cues Turn Mixed

The Indian market enters Wednesday after two strong sessions. Nifty 50 finished Tuesday at 23,810.85, up 370.05 points, while Sensex gained 1,225.07 points to 76,917.85. Nifty closed at its day’s high, which showed that buyers stayed active into the finish.

The early overseas indication was less upbeat. The last available overnight GIFT Nifty quote was 23,725, below Tuesday’s cash Nifty close. That calls for a fresh check before the bell: an overnight futures quote is a guide, not the opening price NSE traders will receive.

November 3, 2026: Indian market post-close summary

Indian shares rose for a fourth straight session on Tuesday. Nifty closed above 23,800 and Sensex gained more than 1,200 points, helped by private banks, FMCG shares and strong corporate earnings. Both benchmarks finished near two-month highs.

What moved the market?

  • Nifty closed at its day’s high of 23,810.85 after touching a low of 23,482.80. Sensex traded between 76,033.74 and 76,917.85.
  • FMCG led the sectors, up 3.65%, followed by Realty (+2.33%), Private Bank (+1.98%) and Auto (+1.71%). PSU Bank (−1.27%) and Metal (−0.14%) ended lower.
  • Private banks gave the benchmarks a lift. HDFC Bank gained about 3.6% and ICICI Bank about 2.7%. Among the leading Nifty gainers were BSE, Nestlé India, Tata Consumer Products, Asian Paints and Bharti Airtel. Power Grid and SBI were among the losers.
  • Market breadth was positive: 312 Nifty 500 shares advanced, 187 declined and one was unchanged. Smallcaps rose, but their 0.31% gain was well below Nifty’s 1.58% rise.
  • Institutional cash flows: FIIs bought a net ₹6,836.81 crore; DIIs sold a net ₹3,678.85 crore. That leaves combined net buying of ₹3,157.96 crore for the session.

For the November 4 report: Tuesday’s close showed firm buying, especially in large-cap consumer and private-bank shares. Still, Bank Nifty finished below its intraday high of 55,739, and VIX rose slightly alongside the market. Those are useful checks when judging whether the rally continues after the next open.

Global cues: US stocks mixed, Europe lower

DAX25,864.62−0.45%
CAC 408,020.31−0.34%
STOXX Europe 600645.66−0.58%

The US gave Indian investors a mixed signal. Nvidia and some other technology shares recovered, helping the Nasdaq and S&P 500 finish higher. Apple fell after warning that rising memory-chip costs could squeeze its margins, and the Dow ended lower. US technology’s bounce may help sentiment, but it was not a broad Wall Street rally. ious about the US-Iran conflict and the US midterm elections. A senior Iranian official said the two countries were still far from an agreement, and Reuters reported US strikes on Iran’s Qeshm island. For India, the practical market link is crude oil: lower prices could ease pressure on import costs and inflation, while a sudden rebound could unsettle the rupee and oil-sensitive shares.

US election developments are another reason to keep an eye on verified news during the Indian session. A pre-market view can change quickly when fresh results or geopolitical headlines arrive.

The Asian index board does not state a timezone beside its individual quote clocks, so I cannot certify those rows as trades made at exactly 7:49 am IST. The broad reading is still soft, led by Japan’s decline. GIFT Nifty is also below Tuesday’s 23,810.85 Nifty cash close, but its −0.05% futures move is not the size of a predicted cash-market gap.

The checked MCX feeds have not posted a fresh November 4 trade. Keep these labelled as November 3 night quotes when updating the Kartalks.com article.

Indian ADR and GDR update

  • Infosys ADR (NYSE: INFY): Closed the November 3 US regular session at $11.93, down 2.97%. Its later after-hours indication was $11.90 at 5:59 pm US Eastern time.
  • HDFC Bank ADR (NYSE: HDB): Closed at $23.05, up 1.54%. The after-hours indication was $23.09 at 4:36 pm US Eastern time.
  • Indian GDRs: A dependable November 3 closing set was not available from the checked listings feed. Its visible GDR table was still dated October 30, so those prices should not be called current.

ADRs can offer an early clue about sentiment toward Indian companies, particularly IT and banks. They trade in dollars and reflect the US session, so their prices are not direct rupee targets for shares on NSE.

Nifty, Bank Nifty and Sensex: support and resistance

Nifty 50 levels

  • Last cash close: 23,810.85.
  • First area to watch below: 23,700–23,725, near the overnight GIFT indication and a nearby options build-up.
  • Further downside references: Tuesday’s opening area around 23,582, then its 23,482.80 low.
  • First upside test: 23,850–23,900, followed by the round 24,000 level.

A weak opening that quickly recovers 23,800 would tell a different story from one that stays below 23,700. Let the first 15–30 minutes establish which move is holding.

Bank Nifty and Sensex levels

Bank Nifty closed at 55,540.05. Tuesday’s 55,174.10 low is a visible downside reference, while the 55,739 session high is the near-term level to clear. Its wider November options map shows put interest near 55,000 and call interest near 58,000, but those distant strikes are not guaranteed intraday turning points.

Sensex closed at 76,917.85. The round 77,000 mark is the immediate psychological test. If the index weakens, Tuesday’s 76,033.74 low is a useful risk marker.

These are trading reference zones based on Tuesday’s price range and the options snapshot, not fixed targets issued by an exchange.

Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today: Open interest, put-call ratio and India VIX

Tuesday’s Nifty weekly contract expired on November 3. Its put-call ratio should not be carried into Wednesday’s setup. For the November 9 expiry, the November 3, 4:45 pm IST snapshot showed:

  • Open-interest put-call ratio: 1.14.
  • Largest call open interest above the reference price: 24,000 strike.
  • Largest put open interest below it: 23,000 strike.
  • Maximum pain: 23,600.
  • A nearby put build-up: Around 23,600, worth watching if Nifty slips.

Put-call ratio divides total open puts by total open calls. A reading above one means more puts than calls were open in that expiry; it does not guarantee that Nifty will rise. Positions change as traders add, exit or roll contracts.

India VIX finished Tuesday at 15.72, up 1.42%. For beginners, VIX is a measure of the swings reflected in Nifty option prices. It does not say which direction the market will move.

Today’s trade setup — Nifty open interest, PCR and key strikes

FII and DII cash-market activity

Foreign institutional investors were net buyers of roughly ₹6,837 crore on November 3, while domestic institutional investors were net sellers of roughly ₹3,679 crore. Together, that works out to about ₹3,158 crore of net buying. Foreign buying helped the tone of Tuesday’s session, although one day’s flow cannot establish a lasting trend.

The checked flow board labelled its cash figures for November 3, while its separate derivatives-position panel showed an earlier date at the time of review. Cash flows and derivatives positions should be read as separate figures, with their dates checked before use.

Commodities and rupee: crude remains the swing factor

MCX silver, December 4 expiry₹1,79,891 per kgNovember 3, 11:54 pm IST quote

Overseas commodity futures were still giving early indications. The MCX figures are last night’s quoted levels, not fresh November 4 trades. Contract months, market hours and units also differ between the international and Indian prices, so the two gold or silver figures should not be compared as though they were the same instrument.

Brent staying above $100 a barrel makes oil an important input for Indian traders. Even when it falls on a particular day, fresh news from the Gulf can move it again. Watch oil alongside airlines, paint companies, oil marketing companies and the rupee.

The market dashboard showed USD/INR near ₹94.73, with the onshore Indian currency market marked closed until 9:00 am IST. That is a last available reference, not a live Wednesday-morning rupee trade. Check the opening forex print before using it in a trade.

Two Q2 growth stocks to watch

Solar Industries: fast sales growth, but a wide trading range

Solar Industries reported Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue near ₹3,519 crore, up 69% year on year. Its company-reported profit after tax was around ₹650 crore, with EBITDA near ₹1,021 crore. The company put its order book at roughly ₹20,178 crore, heavily linked to defence. Demand from mining, infrastructure and international explosives businesses also supported the quarter.

For a long-term investor, the order book is promising only if orders turn into delivered work, cash collection and sustainable margins. That is the next set of numbers to follow, along with management’s execution updates.

The share closed November 3 near ₹19,654 after moving between ₹19,438 and ₹20,880. Such a wide intraday range makes the opening spike risky to chase. The previous low near ₹19,438 is a visible short-term risk reference, while ₹20,880 is the high buyers would need to clear. Those are chart observations, not a recommendation to buy.

Emcure Pharmaceuticals: revenue climbed, shares reacted sharply

Emcure’s Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue was about ₹2,820 crore, up 24.3% from a year earlier. The consolidated net-profit line shown with the results was about ₹326 crore, up 33.7%, and EBITDA was around ₹591 crore, up 23.5%. Sales grew strongly, while the operating margin was broadly steady. Different reports use different profit measures or attribution, which explains why their headline profit-growth percentages may differ.

One dated price-history feed showed a November 3 close around ₹1,966.80, an intraday high of ₹2,071.80 and a low of ₹1,882.50. Other market pages displayed a slightly different closing quote, so confirm the exchange price on your trading screen. For a technical watch, the ₹1,880–1,900 area marks Tuesday’s low and opening zone; ₹2,070 is the recent high. A strong results-day jump can still attract profit-taking the next morning.

IPO updates and the SEBI rule change

Zerodha’s live issue calendar showed Vedant Poly Fabs, an SME IPO priced at ₹88–94, due to close on November 4 and scheduled to list on November 9. Antala Industries, also an SME offer, was shown at ₹62–66, open until November 5, with a November 11 listing date. Dates and listing plans can change. Read the issue documents and check exchange notices before applying, especially because SME shares can be less liquid.

SEBI has also announced changes to the closing auction, market timings and derivatives settlement, scheduled to take effect on December 7, 2026. Under the announced plan, regular cash trading would run to 3:30 pm for all stocks, the closing auction would run for 10 minutes, and final settlement for expiring F&O contracts would use a volume-weighted price from 3:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Traders will need to pay closer attention to that final half-hour once the changes take effect. They do not alter the November 4 timetable.

A practical plan for short-term and long-term investors

For a short-term trade, first see whether Nifty holds 23,700–23,725 and whether Bank Nifty can revisit 55,739. Decide the amount you are willing to lose before entering. Results-driven stocks such as Solar Industries and Emcure can reverse quickly, so a headline alone is a poor entry signal.

For a long-term investment, one strong quarter is a starting point. Check whether sales growth continues, whether profits turn into operating cash, and whether the share price leaves room for delays or weaker margins. Staggering purchases may be easier to manage than putting an entire allocation into a stock immediately after a sharp rally. Beginners who cannot follow company filings regularly may find a diversified equity fund simpler to track.

Today’s market forecast: five things to watch

  • Opening tone: The last overnight GIFT Nifty quote near 23,725 suggests caution against Tuesday’s 23,810.85 cash close. Get a fresh quote before the bell.
  • Nifty downside test: Holding 23,700–23,725 keeps the short-term recovery in play. Below it, watch 23,582 and then Tuesday’s low near 23,483.
  • Nifty upside test: A sustained move through 23,850–23,900 would put the 24,000 mark in focus.
  • Banks and earnings shares: Bank Nifty needs to clear Tuesday’s 55,739 high. Solar Industries and Emcure may see fast moves after their Q2 results.
  • Global checks: Follow Brent near $104, the fresh rupee opening rate, Asian cash-market prices when they become available, and verified US election and US-Iran headlines.
