Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today with GIFT Nifty, crude oil, Nifty 50, Sensex and Bank Nifty outlook for August 11, 2026

Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today August 11, 2026: GIFT Nifty Near 24,619; Oil Surge Keeps Nifty 24,700 in Focus

Indian Markets Pre Market Report Today – August 11, 2026: Indian equities may start Tuesday on a cautious note after crude oil jumped nearly 5% overnight and Wall Street closed marginally lower.

The latest completed overnight GIFT Nifty quote stood at 24,618.50, down 13 points or 0.05%, after trading between 24,568.50 and 24,700. The contract was still around 35 points above Monday’s Nifty 50 cash close of 24,583.80, so the signal is closer to a flat to mildly positive opening rather than a large gap move.

One timing point matters this morning. GIFT Nifty’s first regular session begins at 6:30 AM IST. This report is being prepared just before that session, so 24,618.50 is the latest completed overnight reading rather than a fresh post-6:30 AM quote.

The bigger concern today is crude. Brent settled at $87.72 a barrel, while WTI closed at $82.13, both gaining about 5% as hopes of an early reopening of the Strait of Hormuz faded.

Global Cues: Wall Street Slips as Crude Oil Jumps

US markets closed slightly lower on Monday after Friday’s record highs.

The immediate reason was a renewed rise in oil prices and uncertainty around the Strait of Hormuz. Investors also turned cautious ahead of this week’s US inflation data.

  • Dow Jones: 53,975.98, down 0.11%
  • S&P 500: 7,753.11, down 0.06%
  • Nasdaq Composite: 26,605.36, down 0.32%

The pullback was mild rather than a broad sell-off. Strong corporate earnings are still supporting US equities, but rising oil creates another inflation risk for the Federal Reserve.

US July CPI is due this week. Economists polled by Reuters expect inflation of around 3.4% year-on-year, compared with 3.5% previously. A higher-than-expected number could revive concerns about interest rates.

European Markets Previous Close

European equities were also quiet on Monday.

  • STOXX Europe 600: 660.45, nearly flat
  • FTSE 100: 10,862.50, down 0.35%
  • DAX: 26,323.88, up 0.02%
  • CAC 40: 8,726.03, up 0.13%

European energy stocks benefited from rising crude, while investors remained cautious ahead of economic data.

Asian Markets and GIFT Nifty Latest Update

Asian Markets & GIFT Nifty Morning Update – August 11, 2026

MarketLatest morning updateMarket signal
GIFT Nifty24,611, down 7.5 points or 0.03% at around 7:26 AM ISTIndicates a flat to mildly negative opening for Indian equities
MSCI Asia-Pacific ex-JapanUp around 0.2%Broader Asian sentiment is slightly positive
South Korea – KOSPIUp around 0.3%Selective buying supports the index
Japan – Nikkei 225Fresh Tuesday trade is mixed after Monday’s strong rallyInvestors are cautious ahead of US inflation data
Hong Kong – Hang SengEarly session remains subduedOil and inflation concerns are limiting risk appetite
Overall Asian moodMixed to mildly positiveHigher crude oil is offsetting some support from recent global equity strength

The most recent verified GIFT Nifty quote is 24,611, compared with the previous close of 24,618.50. It opened at 24,618.50 and has traded between 24,601 and 24,627 so far this morning.

Asian equities are trading cautiously. The broader MSCI Asia-Pacific index excluding Japan is up about 0.2%, while South Korea’s KOSPI is higher by roughly 0.3%. Investors are waiting for US July inflation data while also watching the sharp rise in oil prices.

GIFT Nifty Update

The latest completed overnight reading is:

  • GIFT Nifty: 24,618.50
  • Change: -13 points
  • Change: -0.05%
  • Overnight high: 24,700
  • Overnight low: 24,568.50

This puts GIFT Nifty only modestly above the Nifty cash close of 24,583.80. That suggests a flat-to-mildly-positive opening, unless the fresh 6:30 AM session changes direction materially.

Global Geopolitical Update: Oil Is Back in Focus

The Strait of Hormuz remains the biggest global market risk.

Iran has said reopening the waterway depends on several conditions, including compensation, sanctions relief and an end to military threats from the United States. These demands reduced confidence that shipping flows will normalise quickly.

That pushed:

  • Brent crude up 4.99% to $87.72
  • WTI crude up 5.05% to $82.13

For India, this is clearly negative.

India is a major crude importer, so higher oil can:

  • Increase the import bill
  • Put pressure on the rupee
  • Raise inflation expectations
  • Hurt aviation margins
  • Increase raw-material costs for paints and tyres
  • Create pressure on oil-marketing companies
  • Reduce expectations of easier monetary policy

If Brent stays above $85 for several sessions, the domestic market may start paying more attention to inflation-sensitive sectors.

Market structure24,500–24,700 Nifty rangeWait for breakout rather than chasing the middle of range

Nifty formed another Doji-type candle on Monday, reflecting a balance between buyers and sellers. A decisive move above 24,700 can take the index towards 24,800–25,000, while a break below the range can expose 24,400–24,300.

Bank Nifty is also trading within a range. It remains above its major moving averages, but momentum indicators are neutral.

The options market makes 24,500–24,600 particularly important today.

Maximum Call OI is concentrated at 24,600, while maximum Put OI is at 24,500. This creates a narrow options battleground right around the current index level.

The Nifty PCR improved to 0.99 from 0.89, suggesting that bearish positioning has eased. India VIX at 12.24 is still well below the 14–15 zone generally associated with a more uncomfortable volatility environment.

Foreign investors bought a net ₹1,974.76 crore in the cash market on August 10, while DIIs sold a net ₹1,290.29 crore.

F&O ban stocksBandhan Bank, SAILAvoid aggressive F&O trades in ban names; liquidity and restrictions can affect traders.

For today’s Nifty expiry, 24,500–24,650 is the key short-term range. Below 24,500, selling pressure may increase. Above 24,650, short covering can support a move higher. The 24,600 strike is the most important zone because it is both ATM and max pain.

Today’s Nifty expiry setup looks range-sensitive, with 24,500 as immediate support and 24,650 as immediate resistance. Traders should avoid chasing premiums blindly because theta decay can become sharp after the first half of the session.

Moneycontrol – Trade Setup for August 11, 2026

New SEBI Rule: Closing Auction Session Remains Important

The Closing Auction Session introduced by SEBI is still one of the most important structural changes for equity traders.

The new framework began on August 3, 2026, with a dedicated 20-minute Closing Auction Session between 3:15 PM and 3:35 PM for eligible cash-market stocks.

Earlier, closing prices largely depended on the weighted average during the final period of continuous trading.

Under CAS, closing price discovery is handled through an auction mechanism.

What it means for retail investors

  • The price at 3:15 PM may not be the final official close.
  • Large institutional closing orders may be concentrated in the auction.
  • Nifty cash and futures can briefly show larger differences.
  • Traders holding options near expiry need to watch the closing window carefully.
  • Market orders near the close need extra caution.
  • Over time, the system is intended to improve closing-price discovery and bring India closer to international market practices.

Two Growth Stocks to Watch After Q1 FY27 Results

1. Aarti Pharmalabs

Aarti Pharmalabs delivered a strong June-quarter result and the stock hit the 20% upper circuit near ₹823 following the announcement.

Q1 FY27 revenue stood at approximately ₹535.8 crore, up around 38.7% year-on-year. Operating profit increased about 45.7% to ₹136.1 crore, while net profit rose around 65% to ₹76 crore.

Fundamental outlook

Positive factors include:

  • Strong API and intermediate demand
  • Improving profitability
  • High-value pharmaceutical manufacturing
  • CDMO expansion plans
  • ₹149 crore proposed capex
  • Better operating leverage

The company also has exposure to highly potent APIs used in complex therapies, which can support better margins compared with basic commodity pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The main risks are expensive valuations after the rally, execution of new capacity and fluctuations in pharma raw-material prices.

Technical outlook

A 20% single-day rally confirms strong momentum, but it also means traders should not blindly chase the stock.

The next healthy signal would be the stock holding above its result-day breakout zone after the initial excitement settles.

For long-term investors, staggered accumulation after consolidation may offer a better risk-reward profile than buying during an upper-circuit move.

2. Oil India

Oil India was among Monday’s better-performing large PSU stocks, gaining about 2.3% following its Q1 results.

The company reported Q1 FY27 total income of around ₹12,886 crore, up about 47% year-on-year, while profit after tax reached roughly ₹3,630 crore, up about 91%. Operating profit was around ₹5,095 crore.

Fundamental outlook

Oil India can benefit from:

  • Higher crude oil prices
  • Strong domestic exploration assets
  • Natural-gas production
  • Integrated exposure through refining investments
  • Improved cash generation when crude prices remain elevated

The present spike in Brent above $87 can support upstream realisations, though very high oil prices can also create government policy and windfall-tax risks.

Technical outlook

Monday’s 2.3% gain suggests the market reacted positively to the earnings.

The stock becomes more attractive technically if it holds the earnings breakout with healthy volume. If crude continues rising, upstream energy stocks may stay relatively stronger than oil-consuming sectors.

Investors should still avoid treating higher crude as a permanent trend.

Commodity and Currency Market Update

AssetLatest verified levelMarket reading
Brent crude$87.72/barrelUp 4.99%; negative for oil-importing India
WTI crude$82.13/barrelUp 5.05% on Hormuz uncertainty

Spot gold$4,390.29/ozNear nine-week high
COMEX silverAround $65/ozStrong momentum continues
MCX Gold OctAround ₹1,52,400/10gDomestic bullion remains elevated
MCX SilverAround ₹2.32–₹2.34 lakh/kgSilver remains highly volatile
USD/INRAround ₹95.30/$RBI intervention helped contain weakness

Brent and WTI posted their biggest immediate moves, rising around 5% on Monday.

US gold futures settled at $4,419.70, while spot gold traded near $4,390 as investors looked for protection from geopolitical and inflation risks.

In India, MCX October gold was reported near ₹1,52,400 per 10 grams late Monday, while silver remained around the ₹2.32–₹2.34 lakh per kg zone.

The rupee ended Monday around ₹95.30 per US dollar, only slightly weaker despite the sharp rise in oil. Traders believe dollar selling by state-owned banks, likely on behalf of the RBI, helped contain depreciation.

Short-Term Investment View

Short-term traders should remain disciplined today.

  • Treat 24,500 as the first meaningful Nifty support.
  • Watch 24,600–24,700 for the next directional clue.
  • Do not chase a small positive opening if crude continues rising.
  • Upstream oil, pharma and earnings-driven stocks may remain active.
  • Avoid oversized positions in aviation, paints and tyres if Brent remains above $87.
  • Keep tighter stop-losses around the Closing Auction Session.

The market remains technically constructive, but crude has become a stronger negative variable overnight.

Long-Term Investment View

Long-term investors do not need to react to every overnight move in oil.

A better approach remains staggered accumulation in businesses with:

  • Consistent earnings
  • Healthy cash flows
  • Manageable debt
  • Strong return ratios
  • Pricing power
  • Long-term industry demand

Current themes worth watching include pharmaceuticals, upstream energy, capital goods, organised consumer businesses, private financials and selected manufacturing companies.

Valuation discipline remains important, particularly after result-driven rallies.

Today’s Indian Market Forecast

  • Indian markets may open flat to mildly positive, based on the latest completed GIFT Nifty reading near 24,619.
  • Nifty needs to break 24,700 convincingly to target the 24,800–25,000 zone.
  • 24,500 is the main short-term support, backed by the highest Put open interest.
  • Brent crude at $87.72 is today’s biggest negative cue, particularly for oil-sensitive sectors.
  • Earnings-driven stocks may continue to outperform while the benchmark remains range-bound.
